Academy Award winners Dustin Hoffman (RAIN MAN, KRAMER VS. KRAMER) and Emma Thompson (SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, HOWARD'S END) skillfully capture the vulnerability and yearning of an unexpected midlife romance in this endearing new film from writer and director Joel Hopkins (JUMP TOMORROW). On a disastrous trip to London to attend his daughter's wedding, American jingle writer Harvey (Hoffman) meets Kate (Thompson), a no-nonsense British civil servant. At first, they seem an unlikely – pair she shields herself from disappointment with a life devoted to work and her aging mother, while he hides behind his personal and professional failures. But surprised by a flood of emotion neither ever expected to feel again, Harvey and Kate realize they?ve got a shot at something they'd long believed has passed them by. Hoffman and Thompson turn in superbly nuanced portraits that delicately balance hope and caution in the search for mature love. Dame Eileen Atkins, James Brolin, Kathy Baker and Richard Schiff round out the top-notch cast in a touching and tender romance that celebrates new beginnings – at any age.
