Dr. Janet Afary & Dr. Kevin Anderson Lecture on Foucault and the Iranian Revolution - Los Angeles (April 29, 2006)Dr. Janet Afary is an Associate Professor of History and Women's Studies at Purdue University, Indiana. She is the author of The Iranian Constitutional Revolution: Grassroots Democracy, Social Democracy, and the Origins of Feminism (Columbia University Press, 1996), which was also translated and published in Iran (Bisotoun, 2000) and co-author of Foucault and the Iranian Revolution: Gender and the Seductions of Islamism (University of Chicago Press, 2005). She is the current president of the International Society for Iranian Studies (2004-2006). Dr. Kevin Anderson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at Purdue University. He is the co-author of Foucault and the Iranian Revolution: Gender and the Seductions of Islamism (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2005) and the author of Lenin, Hegel and Western Marxism: A Critical Study (Urbana: University of Illinois Press, 1995). Currently, he is a participant in the Marx-Engels Gesamtausgabe, an international project to publish the whole of the writing of Marx and Engels, for which he is helping to edit a volume on non-Western societies and gender.
